Bums and Politics
I'm tired of all the bums. They're everywhere in San Diego these days. They've become a huge problem, from a health risk stand point, to a stressor on the state and local economy. The real scary thing though is how many of them there are that we don't see. They live by the tens of thousands, and in increasing numbers, in the arroyos and canyons. They descend on the city from their encampments and I don't just mean downtown and the beaches. Every community now has a growing collection of bums on their street corners. I know this because I make the rounds in San Diego as a musician and through other employment. Trust me when I say the problem is growing.
Why is this? Granted there is no other place in the world i'd rather be a bum than San Diego, but after twenty years of residency the alarming increase in homeless populations points in a more obvious direction than just the warm climate...yes it's because of bad politics.
In case you live under a rock or slurp your information from stupid soup, you've probably noticed we are now in 'real' economic recovery for the first time in a decade. It's not a point I care to debate, i'm a results driven person—the numbers don't lie. Bad politics and bad business have done so much damage to this country, we've almost become accustomed to taking it in the rear from our so-called leaders. Unfortunately in California it has the potential to get worse.
We have to elect a Governor this year. For as critical as i've been of Jerry 'Moonbeam' Brown and his bullet train to nowhere, his failed cap and trade, his fake water wars, legacy projects, etc....Jerr-bear is actually moderate compared to the yahoos from his party. If Gavin Newsome and his far left politics take the reins from Moony, we'll actually be handcuffed to that bullet train heading toward the cliffs of Torrey Pines.
If you give a shit about your state, if you don't want your state taxes to go ever upward, if you want to actually turn the tide on this ridiculous group of bad decision makers who haunt our state legislature...please start looking into the policies and plans your next potential governor has in mind. I'm not going push any harder than that. I've done enough research to tell you I know i'm voting for Travis Allen, but please explore on your own because the contrasts are stark. The future of California could take some pretty drastic turns in the next few years, depending on who gets elected, and I for one am worried.
Ever the independent, beholden to no party, down to party with both sides...i'm just tired of all the bums. They're everywhere these days; the streets, the city halls, and the most powerful seats of the state legislature. 2018 is a critical and potentially pivotal year for this golden state. We need change for the better. Travis Allen is my pick...who will be yours? #travisallenforgovernor.
